FASHION FRIDAY: ALDO “LIFE’S A BEACH”
Whether or not you like Aldo shoes, it’s hard to resist how fun their recent ad campaigns have been. We may not have the best luck with their shoes but they sure know how to make a fun video.

I HYPE: UP THERE
How many people really look at their surroundings? I don’t mean just looking at where you’re going or a random glance here and there…I mean, really look.
If you’re a resident of the NYC area, the city is flooded with hidden gems with street art being a prominent part of the culture. One facet of this involves a dying profession.
Up There, directed by Malcom Murray as part of Stella Artois’s “The Ritual Project” sponsored by, chronicles the dying art of hand-painted advertisements. Filmed over a three week span of time, the film follows a group of artists as they paint a 20 x 50 foot still-frame image. Giving a bit of background history into this profession, we see how in modern times, it’s still a skill passed on from generation to generation requiring many years to learn and perfect.
It’s a film worth watching and one that will both inspire as well as educate. These guys deserve an immense amount of respect for braving both the weather as well as extreme heights to give us these incredible ads.

#MusicMonday // WE HYPE: George Harrison’s “Got My Mind Set On You” circa 1987
I heard this song playing in a bar this weekend and brought me back to childhood, where I remember watching this video and thinking it was a scene from a children’s show like Sesame Street. With a chipmunk at 3:25 playing a pipe like a saxophone, how could I not?
Originally written in 1962 by Rudy Clark and recorded by James Ray, the song was brought to fame when George Harrison of a little band called the Beatles covered it. There were two music videos of the song, the second being the above. Though kooky in it’s own right, it was nominated for three MTV VMA’s. “Got My Mind Set On You” was also a “Hot 100 number-one hit” of 1988. I also remember the original music video, but all I remember is a ping pong ball machine - are we sure that either video DIDN’T make it to Sesame Street?
Since we listen to music from the 80’s ironically and videos with animals acting like humans spread like wildfire online (I’m telling you, 3:25 is a glorious moment), I thought this would be a great way to start a Monday.
You’re welcome.
MUSIC MONDAY: MIRACLE - “THE VISITOR”
Being called Miracle almost sounds like an oxymoron to what this synth-pop duo, comprised of Steve Moore and Daniel O’Sullivan, is really like. Their debut EP is full of haunting, eerie songs that are certainly a change from the stereotypical upbeat sounds of their peers.
With “The Visitor” serving as the first single, both the songs and video give a slight glimpse into what Miracle are all about. Although the band name may seem like it has some heavenly or religious connotation, Miracle are far from being either.
They are certainly a duo to watch this year and if you’re still not convinced, Refinery 29 posted the rest of their EP which can be listened to HERE.

FASHION FRIDAY: WWDW (WHAT WOULD DONALD WEAR)
Because this week is all about Donald Glover, today’s Fashion Friday post has appropriately been titled, “What Would Donald Wear” or WWDW for short. After surfing the interweb for past things he’s worn for various events, interviews, and on the show, the outfit above is kind of a hodgepodge of different elements seen on multiple occasions.
Although it’s exceptionally simple, it seems like an appropriate outfit selection for Sir Donald. Stylish without being overly pretentious and basics never hurt, making each piece easily mixed and matched with other wardrobe staples.
So what do we all think? Would Donald Wear this?
